EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS FOR K-12 STUDENTS OFFERED AT CUSTOM LEARNING ACADEMY
Assessments, homework club and tutoring programs attract Tahoe Truckee elementary and secondary students
Truckee, CA - Each school year, nearly one hundred students take advantage of Custom Learning Academy's supplemental services including private and small group tutoring, homework club and accurate individual assessments.
"We teach students how to learn in a supportive environment that promotes academic performance and self-esteem regardless of where they go to school full time," explains Lisa Crosby, founder and director of CLA. "Our school's rigorous and engaging 21st century design is working. We accept students of all academic levels, and, year after year, success stories include accommodating young athletes who travel frequently and helping children who are struggling with math or reading exceed national grade level standards."
Students master concepts, catch up and prepare for the SATs and ACT with CLA's exceptional educators through the tutoring program. Tutoring is offered for $55 an hour for one student and discounts are offered for small groups of students being tutored in the same subject. Middle and high school students take a variety of courses for credit with CLA to supplement their existing class schedule.
Crosby understands the challenges of managing a competitive sports schedule and academics so CLA also offers a rolling enrollment policy that allows students to begin a course anytime. And, course for credit students can attend Homework Club at no extra charge. Homework Club offers students a supervised opportunity to work on their skills and sharpen academic performance with an experienced educator. Homework Club for elementary students meets from 3 to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 1 to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday for secondary students. Both elementary and secondary students may attend homework club as many days per month as they would like for $200/month.
Math and literacy assessments provide reliable information on strengths and weaknesses. Full time students are given a comprehensive assessment so curriculum can be designed around their specific needs and other students use the information to better inform their education decisions and identify any necessary support or skills.
Custom Learning Academy, a private, WASC-accredited Kindergarten through 12th grade school is located between the Trout Creek Recreation Center and The Lodge in Tahoe Donner. A highly personalized approach tailored to the individual needs of students is a hallmark of the school.
Crosby encourages interested parents to schedule a meeting for more information. Complimentary half hour meetings are available for families seeking supplemental services as well as those who want to learn more about full time alternatives.
