Dog Sledding can be found in Truckee and Lake Tahoe!! No need to go all the way to Alaska to find this sport! I've never been, but it is one of the Truckee Winter Activities on my bucket list to do as soon as I can.

Truckee is a very dog friendly town, and Husky's are terrific Truckee Dogs! One of my two dogs that I got in Truckee was 1/2 Husky and 1/2 Golden Retriever. Husky's have always been one of my favorite types of dogs.
In researching this page, I found several companies that give dog sled tours, but I think that I would chose to go with Wilderness Adventure Dog Sled Tours that operate out of the Resort at Squaw Creek in Olympic Valley, CA. Brian Maas and his crew sound great, and the Squaw Valley area is one of my favorite places near Truckee.
They are open 7 days a week during winter and spring (weather permitting), and the tours last about an hour and go about five miles.

The video below explains a little bit about them (the video quality is not the greatest in parts of the video):
Dog Sledding at Squaw Valley Video - Tours available everyday with Wilderness Adventures.
Be sure and bring a camera if you go on a tour and dress warm! Sleds from Wilderness Adventures Dog Sled Tours accommodate 2 adults and 2 children with a maximum weight of 500 lbs. per sled. They have six sleds available upon request, so if you have a larger family or want to go with a group of friends or family, you can go together as a group.
On week days, they even give you an opportunity to learn to mush your own sled with longer tours that last 2 - 2.5 hours and cover 15 - 20 miles of gorgeous scenery. This sounds like super fun!!
