SUNNYSIDE CELEBRATES 25 YEARS WITH ITS BELOVED DECK OPENING PARTY MAY 25TH, 2012

Tahoe City, CA – In 1987 Ronald Reagan was president, Dirty Dancing was number one at the box office, Apple debuted the first color MacIntosh and an expanded Sunnyside Resort opened to rave reviews as Lake Tahoe’s premier lakefront restaurant and lodge. Today, 25 years later, Sunnyside is celebrating its silver anniversary with its iconic Deck Opening Party on Friday, May 25th from 11:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Known for its great food, drinks, live music and beautiful lakefront setting, the Sunnyside Deck Opening Party has become a Tahoe ritual that signifies the arrival of summer in the High Sierra. The deck and Mountain Grill will open Friday, May 25th at 11:30 a.m. and the official party gets underway at 3:00 p.m. with live music from local favorites “Ike & Martin” until 8:00 p.m. A benefit raffle and silent auction with everything from cruiser bikes to fine wines will take place throughout the day with proceeds benefiting the Sunnyside Scholarship Fund. Each year Sunnyside through its Legacy of Aloha program awards multiple scholarships worth thousands of dollars to local students studying culinary arts, hospitality and related fields.

Sunnyside boasts the region’s largest lakefront deck with panoramic views of Lake Tahoe and the surrounding mountains. “One look at our deck and you’ll see why so many people kickoff their Memorial Day weekend every year with this great party,” emphasizes event host, Jeff Oxandaboure. “And this year the celebration will be even bigger as we commemorate our 25th anniversary.”
